The History of the Wisconsin Brick Adventureby Rob BeuthlingIt all started in 2006 when Tracy Korn, a blogger with a healthy following (including me) signed up for IMWI and decided to travel to Madison to review the course. I offered to show her around whenever she made the trip. She brought a friend and a couple of other people came down from the Twin Cities. The six of us swam, rode and ran on the course in various brick workouts. The following year, Tracy decided to formalize the idea of a training weekend and we invited others from the internet to join us in Madison. It was free, but didn't promise anything but pointing you in the right direction. About the same time, Tracy helped develop a team that included high-end sponsorships. Using that platform, whether we were racing or not, we continued to host the potential IMWI athletes, expanding our services to include coaching advice, sponsor giveaways, a cookout, and even trainer blender time. I continued hosting the event after Tracy left triathlon and the team moved on. Now in its tenth year, I am happy to have SBR and Rocket Bikes continue the WIBA tradition. The main purpose has always been a free weekend to introduce triathletes to the IMWI course. I know that SBR and RBS will continue to answer any questions you have about the course and race day. Thanks for all the memories and I"ll see you out on the course!
The weekends are our way of giving back to the community and joining everyone together.
These weekends are FREE to any and all.
This event began 10 years ago as a small training weekend amongst friends and has since grown to over 200 joining together on scheduled weekends to share information, knowledge and knock out some high quality training as a group.
This year marks the 10th Anniversary of WIBA!
These training weekends are specifically created around theIronman Wisconsin triathlon course.
7:00-7:30am - Roll out for a one loop ride of the IM WI course. There will be a support vehicle on the course as well as an aid station in Cross Plains. Any questions regarding the course can be answered during this time and maps will be provided. We DO NOT mark the course, as this is illegal in Wisconsin. You can also download a turn by turn map for your Garmin here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/2827826. This is the entire IMWI course, however you can start the ride where you like. SBR/RBS are located one block from the loop.
10:00am-12:00pm - Optional run after. Will provide routes and there is a very nice rails to trails right outside our door.
This schedule is flexible and not mandatory. Our goal is to provide support to those who need it in a relaxed, educational setting. No pressure!
